The aerial gateway to Transylvania, Cluj Airport is the busiest airport in our area and it offers dozens of daily flights to Europe and onward to the rest of the world. It definitely is the best choice of airport to fly into Transylvania.

The beginnings of civil aviation in Cluj-Napoca dates back 87 years ago to 1932, when the Military Aerodrome Someşeni started to operated flights carrying passengers. After a period of prosperity in the interwar years, Cluj airport was destroyed at the end of the Second World War, in 1944. Subsequently rebuilt and developed in successive stages, Cluj airport is today an important driver for economic development of the region.

«Avram Iancu» Cluj International Airport is the second airport in Romania in terms of passengers transported after  «Henri Coandă» Bucharest International Airport, and for 2019 estimates that it will register a traffic of 3 million passengers.

It is located within the city limits so is easily reached by means on public transport, taxis and pre-booked transfers.

We are posting here a list of international destinations, taken straight from the airport’s own website. Using these airports as change overs, you can fly into Transylvania from anywhere in the world. As an example, you can fly from New-York using JFK or Newark International Airport, into Warsaw (Poland) and change the plane then arrive in Cluj-Napoca about an hour later. All this by using LOT Polish Airlines
