The smallest Transylvanian international airport is by no means the least important.
Originally opened in the 1930’s much closer to the city center, it was move to the current position in the 1960’s so it could cope with increased demand.
Having had its runway extensively refurbished in the last year, it is slowly resuming normal flight operations. It is the only Romanian airport boasting daily flights to Budapest Ferenc Liszt Airport, thus connecting Transylvania quite easily to the rest of the world. Therefore flying to Transylvania from the Americas, Russia or even Australia should be quite easy and straight forward. What ever airline you are using to fly into Budapest, remember to book the final stretch from Budapest to Targu-Mures using Wizzair.com. It is one of Europe’s largest and most modern airline companies and its services are outstanding as well as the ticket prices (from up to 10 euros each way).
To get into Targu-Mures or any other destination, visit our Transfers section and one of our drivers will be happily waiting in the Arrivals lounge with a card bearing your name. Unfortunately there is no official public transport line from this airport due to its low number of flights and distance to the city center.
