An important regional airport in southern Transilvania. Nestled at the foot of the mountains, it offers destinations in Germany, London, Vienna, Tel Aviv and Madrid.

Sibiu International Airport had its inauguration day in 1943, on a field of grass of roughly 170 hectares. The first flights were operated with Lockheed planes and were interconnecting different cities within the country.

In 2006 — 2008, the airport passed through the most important rehabilitation program in its history, a €77 million investment in a new terminal building and in runway upgrade.

The latest numbers indicate almost 700.000 passengers for the year 2018, going quickly to the million mark in the next year.
